Weird brake noise is back
hey all,
So maybe you remember me complaining last summer about a weird popping/creaking noise whenever I applied the brakes (seems to come from the rear - doesn't happen when the brakes are SLAMMED on but in normal braking).
When my winters were put on the outlander (on their own steel rims) it seemed to have gone away. No that I put the all seasons back on the truck (with the normal alloys) the sound is back.
Can someone explain how a braking noise can be wheel specific? Am I missing something?
Thanks,
Dave

hmmm...wild guessing...hairline crack in one of the rims? I suppose one way to test that is to swap your summer tires for your winter tires one at a time. Perhaps you could then rotate the affected wheel left/right to see if the sound moves corner to corner.
With the difference of only the wheel, there isn't much to creak.
