Hi All:

I have a 2007 XLS with 5K trouble free miles.

I have the standard OEM Goodyear tires….I always like to plan ahead and wonder what replacement tires other members have gotten..

I have no problems with the 18" Goodyear tires but wonder what other tires would be a better replacement choice….

I have the Goodyear LS2's and so far they seem decent. They are expensive though if paying regular price. Check TireRack.com, they have the LS2's on sale for $111 each right now.

I have Pirelli P6's on my other car and like them. They have pretty good wet traction and seem to be wearing about as expected (25/30K miles) for a performance tire. They are also quieter than the OEM Goodyear Eagls RSA's they replaced andI paid about half of what the Goodyears cost (even thru TireRack). I'd probably buy them again for the price i paid ($92/tire).

Michelin's are always rated well, but cost 20% more than other brands. Yokohama's are pretty good too. Bridgestone's are hit or miss especially on SUV/Truck tires.

I alwaystry to research a lot and get as many opinions as possible on a make/brand before deciding. Ask yourself these questions:
1. What type of weather am i driving in?
2. How many miles am i putting on the tires?
3. How much do i want to spend?
4. How soon do i plan to replace them?

When it comes down to it, the safety features in our 'landers are quite good (VSC/AWD/BFD/ABS/TC). A decent tire will keep you on the road unless you're driving way outside whatconditions call for. If you don't have much snow to deal with look for something with better wet traction and less snow tread. This will give a smoother ride. If you don't need "V" speed rated tires stay away from them. "H" ratedtires are speed rated enough.

Speaking from personalexperience i'd use TireRack as a resource. They have much better prices than stand alone tire stores. Even if you don't buy from them check the ratings and read the user reviews. Some are contradictory but you'll get an idea of their gripes/complaints and whether they are valid or not.

I do check Tire Rack but the choices are few and when you need a tire it happens very quickly....

I just wanted to know what other had gotten and were they happy with the decision...

I know that most are not up to a replacent tires yet but....Tires are very costly and would not want to make a mistake.....

I hope to not need a snow tire but rain is a concern....

The Toyo looks very good but at $165.00 ea it's up at the top in price....But I guess you get what you pay for..!!!!!!

 

I don't mind the Goodyears, they actually work better than I thought they would. I also have tried Pirelli P6 tires that are on my spare set of gunmetal wheels. I think the Pirelli's handle and ride a little better, pretty close though.

the toyo. They both are good but I have never heard or tried toyo b4.

Has any1 tried toyo? I trusted Michelin many years.

Worked great this winter with over 100 inches here. Very good ride, way better grip and handling than the OEM, I thought there were terrible and replaced them after about 5000 miles.
