Default What do you want in next generation Outlander?

I am not sure if anyone raised this subject beofre, but I will add my preferences for next generation of Outlander (2010?):

Keep improving the striking design
Slightly more power with better fuel effeciency (hybrid?)
Improve interior noise isolation
No rattles and creaks!!! (I only ask that a car with only 13k miles doesn't feel like a 10 year old beater)
Higher resolution navigation system with possibly bigger screen 8"-9"
Same minimalistic dash design but with better quality plastics
Smartkey that doesn't make you feel you just bought "Overpricedkey" - (Look at Nissan their key is smaller and nicer and a lot cheaper)
Auto dimming mirror (I believe 09 already has that)
LEDs everywhere by default. (It's cheap and can be done!)
LED headlight option
Same Excellent warranty, but please offer free loaner cars
Convenient dealership locations. I hate driving 20 miles for oil changes!
Of course keep the same price point or below...

One thing, make morefeautures owner configurable, I was looking through the shop manual the other day and I saw a bunch of seting that require dealer help, might be doing with if you have NAV, but that is really nota solution.

I want there to be no flex in the driver's doorwhen I pull it shut.

I want my dealership to still be around in five years.

. . . and a pony!

First. Change the red display of the clock/radio in the non navi model to a color that you can see in sunlight.

Second. Make the two radio ***** larger andaccent them in the same material as the silver shift panel that comes in most 09 models. That would go a long way to adding class to the interior.

Third. Redesign the speedometer and tach to add a temp and oil pressure gauge at the bottom of them. A friend of mine has a Dodge truck and they did that in their interior. It looks sharp and is very practical.

But wouldn't that look retro though? I remember when I was a kid, all cars car with both speedo and tach, with the temp and oil pressure gauge.

What would be more practical, IMO, is if Mitsubishi can program a full telemetry screen in the MMCS, where it shows the gear, temp, oil pressure, real-time fuel economy etc. All the info in the different dash LCD screens but all visible in one page in the MMCS.

I wouldn't really mind if they add a dedicated dash LCD display for the gear selection, even while on drive mode. Of course it won't be available for the CVTs but it will help with 6 auto transmissions. It's just nice to know what the current gear you're on before you even attempt to upshift, like when passing a slow vehicle in the freeway. That then would help avoid overrevving the engine.

@tcp:it will happen, but the question is when. 2010 is a good bet. Mitsubishi is hard at work with the diesel engine, and when they bring a diesel engine here in the US, it will be made by Mitsubishi, not Peugeot or VW like in Europe.

But why in the USA gasoline is cheaper than diesel? In the Philippines, diesel is much cheaper than gasoline.

i too want to see a diesel model. i also would like to see the MMCS a different color. looks ugly to me.
i also would like to see leather in every model except the base model,
and in canada give us heated seats as a standard feature.
i want them to put larger tires on, sick of the tiny 215 tread. it makes it look like a *****.
make the upgraded stereo standard.
i also hate the color of the radio display. very hard to see in daylight.
cross bars for the roof rack standard. that would be nice.
definately change the cheap plastic dashboard.
i would actually like to see the XLS with some leather on the dashboard. make it look like a luxury suv.
strangly enough most of my selections are cosmetics. just because its solid nearly everywhere else.
maby we could take the first leap and make the tint, 5% limo and get rid of this "factory" useless tint. it sucks when you have the bright sun shining through your back window.
