What is your Mileage
Changed the oil at 1K. I think I may be a 3K under 4K.
The 24 mpg @ 80 mph I mentioned before was also using the air and switching between AWD and 2WD because of the pouring rain the first half of the trip.
This morning in kind of rush hour, fridays it moves better, I saw 28.5. Hubby the green light racer was driving and told me he lightened up on the flooring it everytime the traffic opened up and tried to predict slowdowns coasting into them. Funny we got to work in the same amount of time as when he drives like a mad man [>:]
I had gotten to the point of thinking the mileage was never going to be as good as others but as strange as it seems it does get better.

Over my 39 mile drive into work this morning I hit an all time record high for me of 40.2mpg (based on trip computer). Before I got off the highway it was reading 40.7mpg. I'm driving bewteen 50-60mph on the highway, when I'm coasting down a hill I might hit 65mph. When I'm going up hills it's more like 50-52mph.
Note: over the 39 mile I do drop around 1300'. On the way home (gaining1300')I get around 31mpg based on traffic.

Its true that they are averages and not realistic. But you can see it go up and have your mileage at fill go up as well.
My 80 mph 24 mpg trip was 24 at fill. I cant remember what the display read.

I've been tracking my MPG on the trip computer and by the tank full and I've found the trip computer to be very accurate. Over the last 3000 miles I've avg 29.2 mpg (based on gallons to refill and odo readings)the most I've got from a tank was 451 miles took a little over 14 gallons to refill the tank (32mpg). The worst tank was 23.2mpg (wife doing most of the driving). Most tanks now are between 30 and 31 mpg now days.
"Momentary trip computer readings are nothing but estimates" Correct - but my estimates are based on 40 mile commutes and I've found the numbers to be very close. On one tank I logged all of my trip miles and trip computer MPG and compared that to the total miles and gallons to refill and I found that the trip computer was off .5mpg over 410 miles. Others on this forum have also stated that the trip computers on our Outlander are very accurate.
I do use the instant bar graph to vary my throttle input to keep it in the middle.
BTW – My 07 XLS 4WD outlander has 7200 miles I’ve had it for 2 months and purchased it with 4000 miles on it. I never run the A/C and my outlander based on my driving style will shift into 6th gear at 35mph.

No doubt. People get mad at me for going 67-68. I've started pullin in 23-25mpg more consistantly now. Higher on longer trips of course. I'm only at 1900 miles though. Looks like 3000-4000 miles is the start of something magical. Must be the oil.
Currently, I see around 22 mpg in mix driving. On the road trips, not necessarily highway only, I see around 27 mpg. On city driving I got around 19 mpg. These numbers are quite in line with the official estimates which kind of surprises me.
I don't know if this is a coincidence or not, but I started to seethese numbers consistentlyafter the first oil change. So far I’m pleased with what I get from my Outlander.
