Reaching out to see if anyone has had a similar noise happen. This is all word of mouth via my wife....I take no responsibility on her choice of words. I tried for better.

On cold days, starting it up to go home from work, a noise is emanating from the right rear. Supposedly it makes a gurgle noise...a lot like a harley motorcycle would make. It is only there when at idle....while driving, there is no noise out of the ordinary. Both times she's tried to get me to hear it, but she shoves the phone directly in the exhaust and all I hear is wind.

The only thing I can think of is water in the muffler. The muffler isn't bad since it sounds normal at higher RPMs. She said it is definitely from the rear, so not engine/transmission. She'll be sitting at idle, so not suspension. After that, not much else going on in the rear.

 

Hi there- this is ccernst's wife. For the record, last week I described a sound as "creakng like an 1860s ship on the ocean" and my husband was able to figure out the problem-cold CV shaft grease. So I stand by my descriptions!

 

your wife has a cold related noise and not much going on in the rear?
