RE: yet another newbie question about manual shift
For me, Mitsubishi's shifting system is a blast!
The ECU will downshift the transmission completely in Maual Mode so that
you don't "lug the engine" and cause any damages.
All you have to worry about is the upshifting and leave the downshifting to the ECU.
The paddle shifters are great for the "twisties" when you need both hands on the steering wheel.
(Proper positioning as taught in "tactical driving" schools.)
I think we havethe platform for a reallyawesome "Crossover Utility Vehicle".
With the AWD, you don't haveto worry about any torque related traction problems
and can practically dust any other vehicle in it's class because of the great traction and stiff unibody.
All we'd need is the Ralliartsuspension and better tires,
maybe the Bridgestone 235/55x18 VR's.
Sorry...I'm not a Mitsubishi employee.
Take care!

You guys talk about the abilities of Mitsus 'shifttronic' system was designed for anything more than entertainment while driving. Its not like a Mercedes, Porsche or Ferraris system, nor is it like the Hurst his/hers system. Ive never heard of using it saving you money at the pump or severly increasing ones performance... Theres a reason they make manual cars and a reason they make automatic cars... but the sporttronic is not the best of both worlds, so to speak.
