...I do use it to proactively downshift if I'm passing..otherwise...

For me, Mitsubishi's shifting system is a blast!
The ECU will downshift the transmission completely in Maual Mode so that
you don't "lug the engine" and cause any damages.
All you have to worry about is the upshifting and leave the downshifting to the ECU.

The paddle shifters are great for the "twisties" when you need both hands on the steering wheel.
(Proper positioning as taught in "tactical driving" schools.)
I think we havethe platform for a reallyawesome "Crossover Utility Vehicle".

With the AWD, you don't haveto worry about any torque related traction problems
and can practically dust any other vehicle in it's class because of the great traction and stiff unibody.
All we'd need is the Ralliartsuspension and better tires,
maybe the Bridgestone 235/55x18 VR's.

Sorry...I'm not a Mitsubishi employee.
Take care!

No truer words have been spoken. I drive stick. 5spd manual. i double clutch, for my own reasons, and i drive aggressively. not dangerously but in a fun aggressive way. I am a professional driver so i do know how and what i can get away with. that being said. The op on this is asking when to shift with his shifttronic paddles? dude stick with stab and go. it will be your best bet until you gain some experience driving this vehicle. shifting manually. If you want to save fuel, you shift up at low to moderate rpm, say between 1750 and 2100 revs. downshift at about 2500 rpms. learn that and go from there.
