Default After Market DVD Double Din Install

The Raider is 1 1/2 din. I want to put a double din in. I know the current opening is 3 1/2 X 6 7/8 and I need 4 X 7. Has any one successfully put a double din in the raider? I know I need all kind of adapters etc. I have all that lined up. I just didn't want to pull the trim off - etc. only to find out that I have a screw through my chest. Any help or advice?

It is good to see the Raider on the forum. I found the forum a money saver when I owned my 2002 Montero Sport. Some days I wish I had it back.

Thanks in advance for you rhelp.

Bob

How did you actually mount the radio to the dash?

Whichever unit you buy should come with a plastic trim that you can snap around the face of the unit once you get it though the opening in your dash.

Take your dremel out and cut out an opening on your current radoio trim that fits the unit you wish to install. Sand the edges.

Remove stock radio,install new one.

I have opictures of the process in the link i posted above.

Hope that helps..

What I meant was how did you actually secure the aftermarket radio in the dash opening? From looking at the factory radio it looks like it has molded plastic brackets that are screwed into the frame (for lack of a better term) but I didn't see an easy way to secure the aftermarket radio.
