Default Gas 10 MPG

I bought a Raider V8 XLS 4X2 with 62k and there was no check engine light on, but I put my scanner and there was no light but eventhough I had a code, I erased it by mistake but I remember something about the map screw was in wrong position, It has 20w50 oil, has a K&N firter not a cold air intakeand it was brand new, but I cant get more than 10 miles per gallon. I just took off 3 spark plugs NGK FZR5F, they seem to be very old. But I cant get to see whats wrong. I just change transmission oil with a new filter.
So please help me, I cant affort to spend so much gas.

Sell it and buy a Prius. What were you thinking when buying a V8 if you cant afford to spend so much on gas?

I now that V8 spends a lot of gas but I bought a Cherokee 2004 limited 4x4 4.7 brand new and I got 13 MPG in the city with no K&N cat backs I just need the engine to be working as it should. I will change spark plug with OEM champions, 5w30 oil, what else shooul I check or change, it has a brand new K&N tablet filter.
I had a Mustang GT 2007 auto trans and I got 15.5 just in the city, stop and go.
Does the full synthetic oil helps or improve mileage or should I use mineral oil.
