My wife is at work and just called me to tell me that her gas gauge said "zero miles remaining" when she was about 3 miles from her job. The problem is that she forgot her wallet at home, and the owners manual is also at home on the kitchen table.

Do any of you guys know, or wouldn't mind looking in the manual, how many gallons of gas are supposed to be left in the tank when the gauge says 0 miles?

FWIW My 2006 Evo supposedly has a little over 2 gallons when the light came on, but that still showed about an 1/8th of a tank left on the analog gauge. Thanks in advance for the help.

 

The only way to know is to let it run dry. Every vehicle is different.

Alternatively, let it run down to zero, then fill up the tank. Look in your owners manual for the fuel capacity, and subtract how much fuel you put in = the amount left + what's left in the lines.
