Default Introducing myself

Hello all Mitsubishi drivers/owners out there. I joined today. I am Bill and live in Sasebo, Japan. My first Mitsubishi purchase was a new Sport Pajero in 2000. Loved that vehicle. I am a retired sailor and have since retired from the work force completely. I now drive a Delica 2...yes big downgrade from my Pajero. Very good on gas as it has the Hybrid engine with all of the e-assist bells and whistles. Made for us older guys I guess. I have already posted in the section for members not living in the USA. So I only dropped in here to say hello and introduce myself. Happy driving and Have a great Navy/Marine Corps Day!

Default New Member Intro

Hi there my name is Jessica and I have a 2002 Montero Sport. She has 124k miles on her. I found myself here because the Monty is having some issues and I’m looking for advise and help on what it could be.
I just had the alternator replaced and the same day I picked it up from the shop it had a low idle, sputters at low idle when at a light or stop sign. It acts like it’s not getting fuel like it wants to die but doesn’t. Sputters on acceleration bit levels out once I get going. Mechanic said he found no issues but it’s been 3 weeks and still doing it. I’ve cleaned the throttle body, used SeaFoam, adjusted the throttle cable, and I’m not sure what to check next. I don’t understand because it never did it prior to replacing the alternator that day. Thank you in advance for any pointers.

Default Hi to Jessica

I would like to know if you serviced the fuel filter
That would be a good thing to start if it has been servived.
Any service engine soon code during your hesitation?
I would start here and review your service history
Also did they clean up the iac and map sensors in the throttle body . If they read wrong they could confuse the computer to not set the proper air and fuel to drive while cold start or warm up.

Hi!! Thank you so much for replying to me. I got The Monty used a year ago and have been fixing it as I go. So, I don’t have any good info on the Service History. (New radiator, alternator, chemical flush etc) I have not checked the fuel filter and will absolutely go there next. I also have read it could be the AIC. Like I said previously, while driving at a steady pace there’s no issue and runs smooth. It’s when at a stop the idle is rough, low, and chugs. On initial acceleration it chugs and rough. I don’t know a thing about cars but this is definitely making me learn, FAST. It’s just odd to me that it never happened until the alternator got replaced. I’ll keep ya posted
