ASX XC Keyless Start Issue
I own an XC Model ASX, build date 4/2019, Exceed 2WD Petrol 2.0 litre CVT (keyless start). Odometer just passing 100,000 km.
Never previously had any issues, mechanical or electronic.
A week ago, with the footbrake depressed as per normal, and transmission in P, the keyless start would not engage the starter motor – the press to start button showed a red light rather than the normal green (battery is almost new and fully charged, and the remote has a new CR2032 battery.
After pressing the footbrake a few times, I got an error message “please press brake to start motor”, even though the brake had been pressed. When that message displayed, I tried starting as per normal and the started motor engaged and the motor started.
This has happened several times during the week. Seems to occur only after the car has not been running for some time.
I looked at hydraulic fluid - reservoir full, no leaks.
Could it be related to some form of sensor on the brake pedal.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
