Default Brand new

Hey everyone,

I haven't actually bought a Mitsu yet but I will be buying a 4g Eclipse GT within the next month or so here. I'm not some punk kid with a dream, I have the money right now I just need the right one to come along, and I don't really want to go new.

Anyway, my name is Tim, live in Minnesota.

If anyone has any good info for me about the 4g Eclipse before I buy one I would love any info or advice you can give.

I'm not much of a car person, more of an aspiring one, but once I do get my car I may be looking into doing some things to it, what are some common easily done mods for an eclipse? I probably wont do much body-wise, probably rims and thats it.

As far as voiding warranties, what things can I do without voiding them? Is any performance upgrade going to void me or only certain ones?

that is not true. an intake and exhaust will NOT void your warrenty in almost every case it depends on the dealer but I brought my Evo in with full exhaust no cat 3 in all the way from the turbo to the muffler, Intake, upper and lower ic pipes HKS ssqv, SAFCII and god knows what else and it went in for warrenty work an they didnt fuss about any of it. then my dealer in Tampa Fl said to me "dont even put an intake on or youll lose your warrenty" lol 2 weeks later my car was in there with an intake and warrenty stayed intact

Right on, thanks for the info. I'm in Minnesota so who knows how my dealerships will be, but I kinda heard the same thing about exhaust, and that was one of the first things I was wanting to look into doing.

i guess it just depends on the vehicle and the dealership than b/c i have a friend w/ a Cobalt SS who put a catback exhaust on it, 2 weeks later his trani was acting up so he took it to the dealership, they said b/c it had performance upgrades that they could no longer warranty it b/c it puts extra stress on the motor and trani that it was not designed for.... basically just making up an excuse so they didnt have to warranty it after he had already paid for the warranty.

exactly it all depends on the car and the dealer. Dealer mostly.... But come on now we all know an exhaust will not do anything to a tranny no matter what car your in. If he did an aftermarket clutch then it is justified why they would void a tranny issue ya know. at least that is how most Mitsu dealers work with the Evo. If I bring in my car for a bad cat they blame exhaust but for a tranny with a stock clutch and fluids in it they cant say my exhaust did it.
