engine swap
hello, I'm a bit new to the engine swap world as well but it seems to me that if you want to do an engine swap you might want to research that stuff first. Why have you choosen the engine you want to swap for? What are you hoping to gain from the swap? are you sure a swap is the right move for you. Far be it for me to call myself an automotive guru but maybe you should know exactly what you have before you swap your engine.
Now on to my portion of this...does anyone know the horsepower and torque differnces between a 6g74(found in the 3000GT) and the 4g63 (pretty sure that's the one in the evo's). what is the base horsepower, what is the horsepower difference aftre you comporably equip each one with turbos, cam shafts etc. I have a stock 99gs eclipse and I know that I can a lot with my engine but I have a small oil leak at the rear main seal and if I'm going to pull the engine or the transmission to fix it I want to put a sturdier more powerful engine in. If a 6g74 will fit and offers much more power I'd like to use that but if not I'll go with the other. I also need to replace the throw-out bearing in my clutch and figure if I'm going to do any of the work that wil eventually need to be done I might as well get it all in at once. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated
