Default Hi there

OK, here I am. I already posted a ? in the Interior Wiring section so I guess I better intro my self retroactively!!

I am four weeks into my first DSM - 97 GST (118K). Wow - 225/45/17..what the heck is that? Not your basic 175/70R14!
And $7.50 for a quart of oil?

OK, no sweat I bought it for fun, not practicality. My first job is to get an intercooler - probably wait 'til spring tho. Actually, my very first job is to fix the ***** wiring I inherited. The gauges and something else(??) is hooked straight into the fuse blades - even I know that is a bad thing.

I will probably be all over the place on this board since I am a turbo-newbie. See you there!

No intercooler? Why the big no-no? That is supposed to help my engine last longer. At least that was what I have been told. Sounds like there is something I don't know yet.... )

youve been told wrong, an intercooler helps cool the incoming air to your engine....

OK, but, isn't that the same thing? Cooler air, burns more efficiently, engine lasts longer... It sounded good to me. So, if not the intercooler first, what - or maybe nothing at all? I have absolutely no plans on testing the 130 MPH limiter.

The turbo is already aftermarket, ditto BOV, air filter. The clutch flywheel(?)was lightened and the clutch rebuilt. It is lowered 3" and has an aftermarket body kit. I don't intend on making use of manual boost, air/fuel mix, or ECU mods. Just driving to work and back, with an occasional drive around town just to show off!!! But then again, it begs for attention of some kind....[8D]
