i currently own a 97 jetta. ive been pretty into VWs, but im just getting really fed up with all their problems. im looking into buying a 99 eclipse (the one im looking at right now is a 5spd RS) i dont know a thing about mitsubishis becuz ive never owned one, so what are some things i should know about them b4 i get one and sut are some problems i should look for? (i know with VWs you always look for electrical problems and the such, so im guessing mitsubishis have their own problems) also, what are the huge differences between the RS and GS? because it seems like i can deal with the RS, but i dont want to be disappointed. its either this, or probably a 99 civic si, but i like the insurance price i got for the 99 RS. thanx in advance...

 

wow, i guess this forum doesnt move nearly as fast as my VW forums. there we get replies within minutes, let alone hours.... come on, anybody got any suggestions? im really torn whether to leave my vw and get the eclipse, or keep my dub :-\

 

if you gettin 99' mod. try gst / gsx, both turbocharge. rs /gs pretyy much same w/ A20 n/a engine. (rated at 140 hp and 210hp for gst/ gsx mods.)
so, comparin rs to gs..aint goin anywhere, both same.( except the tire size diffrent...lolz)

thanx..... yeah, i want the gs-t, but im gonna hafta settle for the RS or GS, because theres no way i can afford the insurance on the gs-t ...or the gsx for that matter. aside from performance, how are reliability issues with them? some of those things on the link you left, a lotta people said theyr expensive to maintain... i own a VW and THATS expensive to maintain.. i dont think the eclipse is worse or even as bad is it? and a couple people complained about them. what are some common known issues?

 

it aint that hard to maintain a RS / GS mods, compare to gsx / gst's. you have to consider turbocharge vehicle' s are expensive to maintain, and i, dont think eclipse's are more expensive maint. compare to vw's. about the issues, well...no experience at all ( bad iss. ) those couple of people who complained, maybe they dont know stuff about the eclipse's. like i, said, it aint that hard. so go on and get your self a eclipse, start modifying.
