Default New eclipse owner

Hello!

Just bought my first import car, 00' Eclipse GT. Actually I had a Mitsubishi Mighty Max truck, it went through anything and left theJeeps sliding in the ditch. This car makes a great everyday driver so far (1 day)! Gas mileage is great! Its also good in the snow. Mine was the victim of softball size hail totalling all windows and denting the **** out of it. Now its considered Salvaged. So I picked it up for cheap with low mileage. Its got a little pickup for sucha little motor, the 5-speed shifts nicely.

I own all sorts of cars and end up visiting lots of message boards. My other cars include a 1986 Mustang GT (245hp, 285ibs torque) which had alot of work done to it by me, and I am also rebuilding an Oldsmobile 455 thats going into a 1987 Cutlass (550ibs torque 500HP), 99' Mercury Sable 3.0, and a 1969 Oldsmobile Delta 88. This japanese stuff is all new to me but its interesting to see a 4 or 6 banger kicking out some power and still get great gas mileage. It seems to appeal to a younger audience of high school aged kids since the Fast and Furious movie came out so that kind of gave Japanese and Asian cars a bad rep for older folks. So here I am with a Japanese car to see how reliable it really is~! I'm doing no mods to it and I will drive it like a granny unless I get challenged by a Geo Metro!

Welcome to MF, Mark.
Btw, just as referrence, the Eclipse (any gen) is a domestic, only the badge is an import
The cars were made right here in the US. They have been made in Normal, Illinois since it's production date in 1989 (yup, it was introduced in 1990). I can see why you think it to be an import though, seeing that your previous cars were all American badged (except for the MMM truck, lol).
Please, please don't mention F&F and Mitsu in the same sentence again, lol. You're correct that it has given a bad, actually, it worsened it, rep. If the movie only stuck with stock bodied cars with no stickers and the other crap (:cough: wings), it would have made the "import" scene a little more credible IMO. The street racing is found in all sorts of circles, so street racing can't be credited to the "imports" alone.

Anyway, I'm rambling, again, welcome to MF, Mark. Hope your stay is an enjoyable and helpful one.
