Good evening all.
Looking forward to getting some tips and tricks from you good folks as well as hopefully contributing some items that I come to find.
Just picked the car up this evening as I was reading a lot of good info about them once they are well maintained. My first job coming up will be timing belt and water pump (its at 118K and i dont really know much about service history) http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sh...ero_sport.html
Any other guidance on general things that I should be considering over the next few months would be greatly appreciated. My learning curve is looking intense but its going to be a whole lot of fun.

if you're confident enough to do a timing belt, then the world is your oyster.
i'd be dropping and replacing all fluids, bleeding all lines, generally or otherwise giving it the "once over" front to back.

Some belt does need to be done as there's a belt squeal when I lock the wheel fully whilst moving slowly. Not sure if timing belt is above my paygrade but I will give it a shot. I've been working on an E46 for the last year so I have a little experience in making big mistakes.
Akzle - would you mind being specific on what you recommend. I can then look them up on the manual I found.
Also, the idle seems a little low when in drive and holding on the brake - it that normal (its less than 500rpm)

if you're less concerned, just grease all the nipples, push all the bushes, drain the engine sump, diffs, gearbox, tranfercase, power steering rack, brakes, clutch, radiator.

petrol? that would be an automatic problem.
