Well, I actually plan to basically rip the entire honda apart this winter and really learn how cars work. I've been interested in the auto-world for years, but my friends were never interested, and my dad was definitely not an auto-guy. So I've been trying to teach myself anything and everything, but it is a slow process when you are at work or classes for 11 hours a day, then have homework after that.

So I figured hey. I need to buy a new car. What do I do with the old one? Tear it apart.

Get books. READ man it'll be MUCH more informative than just tearing an engine apart. Learn what different basic parts are called and one you understand the process that the engine goes through (In other words you can explain to your dad HOW the gas gets FROM the tank to the exhaust pipes and causes the car to move forward and have him understand it) THEN start tearing into the car and find out how it ticks. But DEFINATELY know the basics or you'll do more harm than good.

Good point. I've been reading some repair manuals but they don't get really indepth. Do you have any recommendations for a super-noob? I'd greatly appreciate it, sir.

Yeah I definitely got the !@#$ed up end of the stick, lol. I just wish they would learn from their mistakes. They are wonderful parents, but when it comes to shopping for cars, Jesus Christ. Steer clear.
