i have been a mechanic for 20 years and i just got this mitsubishi mirage as a run around car and found it to be very quick and fun to drive.i was a drag racer for about 10 years but switched to rock crawling and 4weeling 10 years ago.so i guess i am likely 15 years older than most of you so if there is any old farts pushing 40 post so i dont feel so old here thanks i hope to get good info here to hop this thing up.i have put exuast and cold air intake and it has helped the power a lot

 

Honestly, the best thing you can do for that car is to keep it stock and a DD. After the intake and exhaust the next step is something a little more invasive, costly, and could potentially screw with the reliability.

If you want a car to modify then I suggest choosing another model of Mitsubishi. For example, Eclipse GSX or EVO? Both all wheel drive and turbo charged from factory, and respond very well to mods.

 

this is not entirly true seb. Some year mirage's can be made and cheap Evo without trying to hard. There was a few of them local in Tampa Fl. one of which is known as "the Yellow Mirage" Which was running 10.2s it was AWD from a GSX and a 4g63 with a built motor and big turbo

 

No question, but we aren't talking bolt ons anymore now are we? You can make a freakin Geo Metro do 10's with enough money lol.

 

actually the metro isnt a good analogy either lol. You can drop a 4g63 in those kinda easily too from what it seems. But yes you are right its not as easy as bolt ons any more.
