Default newbie introducing self

50 year old mechanically inclined retiree with 98 Montero with 133k just purchased for $4600. Car is loaded, immaculate, stickered for $41k. I've replaced all fluids, the front disks and idler arm. Had to repair the tape deck, rear window washer, seat switch and various interior trim. Vehicle is averaging 21 mpg, but I drive like old people scr_w. This is my 1st non-Toyota since 1992. We live at 7000 ft and are surrounded by 4WD forest service roads. This will be the camping and elk hunting machine. Preventative maintenance tips and anticipated failures would be greatly appreciated. Car runs very smoothly but appears underpowered, is due for new tires and CD changer appears jammed.
