oil leaking everywhere
#22
yes sir, a 97 3000gt...mine has a very teeny tiny oil leek nothing to serious(i hope), but once in a while i can smell the oil burning off my engine lol the gaskets i ordered are 2 valve cover gaskets and the upper intake manifold gasket.
i guess while im typing, i check my oil level daily, but most of the time it's an inaccurate read because when i take out the dip stick after cleaning it off and sticking it back in and take it out again to check where the oil level is, i just get this splashy look, as though the oil is kinda just, well, splashed on the tip or higher! but it might just be dude to the oil leek i guess. but i drew this out so you guys can have an idea of what im talkin about
the last time i put oil it had a smooth read, but then a week later it started to do this. hope ya guys can give me any info on this or any thoughts would be appreciated...sorry for a lengthy question...thanks guys!

Alright cool, I don't really have any advice about your dipstick problem, I'm not the best person to ask when it comes to oil related problems. But as soon as I get my new gasket for my valve cover, I'll let you kno if its stopped. And I'll try to get some pics put up

Sometimes that can happen just from temperature.
Get it to operating temperature and shut the engine off. Wait 2 minutes, and check the dipstick. It'll be covered and blotchy with oil. Wipe it clean, stick it in, wait two seconds, and try again. Make sure you don't flip the oil everywhere, etc. It should be an obvious crisp line on the oil level.
If you see any crap, water, coolant, etc. You've got problems.

Haha I don't drive it, I just started it today after I reattched my headers and exhaust, and replaced my spark plugs. I was just makin sure it started up properly then noticed some smoke comin off my headers...and curiousity struck me.
