Default 4G64 turbo compatibility question

Hi,
I am new to this forum - read some of the msgs related to turbos and about turboing a 3G eclipse. I have a 2000 GS with 105000 miles. The engine runs great - never had troubles with it.I was wondering if I could install a turbo in it with some other mods as well. Can my engine take it? Will it help if i perform the compression and leakdown test ? I saw on one of the posts that somebody mentioned that a stock 4g64 engine could take 15-18 psi of boost. Is this true since i read elsewhere that it is not designed for more than 10psi.
I have about $5000 to spend - would really appreciate any ideas about the mods that i really need to do to install a turbo. I am looking for an increase in HP from the stock 150 to about atleast 230 HP.
Also any help in locating turbo vendors (ones that install their products would be even better) would be really appreciated.
Thanks

A compression test and leak down will tell you what codition your engine is in. If that is all ok go for it. As for how much boost, just get someone to tune it right and dont go nuts on the boost.

the 4g64 can hold 15psi, someone on here did mention that a friend was running 18psi, but I would hang around 15 just to be safe. Check out tearstone.com, dude is on this forum also as tearstone. I would say a stage 2 turbo kit, a full exaust, intake, and some sticky tires would make your car move.

I do not have any experience with installing parts - I did read a lot about the turbos and how they work etc from this forum and elsewhere. I would love to try it out though - but i do not want to risk blowing up my engine. Do you know of any place where they would sell/install the turbo and the suggested mods. Any place on the east coast from Connecticut to Virginia is fine - as long as you know that they do good work.
I looked up tearstone and have sent them an email - waiting for their response.
Thanks

I tried to search ne speed on google - did not come up with any related hits. Am i missing something ?? Do i need to change my clutch or any other part of my tranny to accomodate the extra power or is the stock one pretty good.
Also i read that the headers/pistons are pretty good on the 4cyl engine - they do not need replacement - is this right ?
thanks for your help - very appreciated.
