Its probably one of two things

1. The ECU is bad
2. The Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF) is bad.

However even though the ECU is the more expensive i would start with that. Maybe try and find someone that will let you borrow one to give it a try.

so the ecu or mas can be causing poor accerleration and the choppy feeling?..so i should get my mas and ecu and vac lines...and exhaust leak....those could be the main reason.....im just tired of dealing wit ****ty mechanics....i took it a couple months ago and told them to check everything....from fuel to lines...and obviously they didnt do a good job......just want to make sure cause if i tell them to check that specifically maybe they will <sarcasm!...thanks alot fellas...hopefully those are the prob so i can take care of it....tired of drivin a ****ty dsm...

Try unplugging the maf and driving it and see if its any better. I am betting on a bad maf.

well i drove with out the mas..both good and bad....ofcourse it ran chopppy upto 2300rpm then it halled ass...that could be the cooparate..but instead of buyin a new mas can i just get a maf translator to also run open b.o.v and take care of the problem

Get a used 2g mas, you can get them dirt cheap. Running a gm maf is very expensive and can be a pain to tune. One more thing dont get the gm maf just so you can vent your bov.

After you replace the MAS, be sure to unplug the battery for a few mins to let the ECU reset. Then you should be good to go.

If not, then you have other problems.
