Default HKS Turbo Question.

Okay turbo in question is an HKS Big T28 with about 1k miles on it.

Lauren picked up the turbo for $150, but the only problem is that it has a tiny chip in the exhaust wheel. No shaft play at all.

My question is, will the turbo need a rebuild, or just the exhaust wheel replaced? Could anyone on here do it?

I have called FP, and they don't deal with them, and a couple others that don't deal with them. I called up HKS of USA and left a message, fat f-ing chance I will get a response. I mean, why have a tech line if you are going to put the voicemail on? It's nowhere near closing either.

Thanks in advance.

To the bottom hehe,
I believe there are some very good web resources that deal with turbo rebuilds, just Google or Yahoo it.
Second, I think the turbo is better be rebuilt by professional since a temporary fix and/or homebrew attempt will result in a much bigger expense later on.
It needs to be carefully balanced because of extreme rpms.
The chipped wheel has set it off balance so it, obviously, needs to be at least re-balanced.
Tell me if I'm wrong.

I understand what you are saying, and I had the same thought process.

I googled and googled for about an hour, called abour 5 different performance part places, and none said they dealt with HKS Turbochargers. So I had to go to the mother ship on this one, and called HKS USA. Their tech department was 'closed' when it was 3 hours before closing. Already not impressed. So I left a message with a phone number, NO phone call back, now slightly pissed.

When tomorrow rolls around I will be making a phone call to corporate.
