Tell us more about the car.. Is it a 1st gen? 2nd gen? You would be able to tell when you drive it if its a 14b or 16g.. But if your not use to driving either one it would be hard for you to tell...
I have a 90 GSX. The guy i bought it from told me all the work and upgrades he did to it. He said is has a rebuilt turbo, so i dont know if that meens it is stock or upgraded. The car is quick, but i have nothing to compare it to. I want to upgrade/swap the turbo buti dont know what i have now.
Here is sure way to tell if you have a 14B or 16G...remove the intake tube, look at the compressor wheel and look at the vanes. Single vanes are in the 14B, double vanes are in the 16G. Also, notice the thinner compressor inlet on the 16G..remember, both these turbos use the same housing (hence, why it's hard to tell which is which at a glance)....

Hmmm, I digress on the terms single and double vanes. That's too confusing and incorrect. The vanes are alternating in height on the 16G where the vanes on the 14B are all one height.

In the bottom pic, you can easily see what I'm referring to. The 16G is on the right.

okay silver, you confused me a little bit...
16g is all one height, but doesnt that mean ... from the last picture, its the LEFT one?

But just like Sebz stated, in the very bottom pic, the one on the left is the 14B..actually, in all three pics, the one on the left are 14Bs and all three on the right are 16Gs.

Bottom pic and bottom half... look at the blades ... it goes... bigger - shorter - bigger- shorter... and the 14b on the left has them all the same height
