Need Turbo Help!!
I have a 1996 3000gt base model. I am getting ready to buy two turbos from a talon. I don't know much about all of this. The kid i am buying it off has the two turbos, intercooler, piping, blow off valve, and boost controller. What else would i need besides a turbo intake manifold. For intense do i need to upgrade my internal parts or my fuel. What psi should i run the turbos on my stock engine. Need help if anyone knows get back with me soon.
I wouldnt buy them. The DSM turbos SUCK. and all his parts are not going to fit your car without lots of custom work. Why dont you go buy VR4 turbos and manifolds?
You dont need an intake manifold you need 2 exhaust manifolds. yes youll prob need a fuel pump and bigger injectors at the least. Internals are a good idea cause other wise your not going to make that much HP without sacrificing the engines safety

and if you search for some of his posts, he answered this question alot in the 3000gt section
If you have a "base" model, that engine is a good one, but not designed for the turbos. You can add turbos, but everything would be custom as the headers and exhaust system is different from the SL or VR-4.
Go look in the for Sale Section of 3si.org
96 Base is still the DOHC, so that motor will turbo just fine. All you do is upgrade to the VR4 intake/fuel/exhaust systems. Go to the NA to forced induction of 3si for a writeup.

Its Depends. If your Running Stock Internals, like 7-8lbs max. The N/A Motors are 10:1 Compression stock, so adding FI makes the work really hard. You could convert to a few TT parts (Head) and get the compression Lower then boost more.
But Honestly, If you start boosting more than that, traction becomes an issue, so you will have to get an LSD and yadda yadda. It will be Cheeper to sell the car and buy a bone stock VR4 that will still outperform your TTBase.
