I recently purchased a 2015 Evo and was driving around town today when all of a sudden a heard a loud hissing/whoosh sound. When the car is idling or when im cruising I can't hear anything, but when i accererate (only when the RPM gets to about 3000) I start to hear the noise again. I also don't get the same response from the car if i push the accelerator down to pick up speed, it feels like its now lacking in power. Anyone have any idea on what it could be? If its something quick and easy to fix I'd rather do that then prove 90 minutes to the closest dealer.

Oh yeah, and the check engine light came on...

 

Sounds like a boost leak. One of the hoses from the turbo to intercooler to intake may have popped off or a clamp has come loose. Loss of power is another indication. Boost usually comes on where you can notice it around 3000 rpm. You need to get it fixed. Check the connections. A local shop may be able to find a loose clamp or tube but I be hesitant to let people do serious work on it.

 

That was exactly it! Reconnected the intercooler house and she was good to go again.

Glad to help. Check every now and then and maybe upgrade the clamps if it keeps coming loose.
