First I'd like to say sorry if this has already been covered, but...please bear with me. I purchased a '96 Eclipse RS yesterday (my first one..yay me) and it obviously has no turbo. It's a 5 speed yadda yadda yadda. I ran into a friend of mine last night that is using a motor from a 2002 Eclipse for his race car, but for the local track turbo is not allowed, so he is going to take it off.

My question is thus:

Will a turbo from that 2002 Eclipse work on my '96? I am guessing the answer is probably no, but I figured I would ask before I went out and purchased it from him.

Next question, what engine upgrades would you all suggest to someone on a somewhat limited budget (say under $3k for now)

No it wont... but if you really want to turbo an RS then you still can... it would just cost you crazy money... it would be sheaper to get a GST/GSX

 

Thanks for the information, I really appreciate it. It wouldn't have killed me to buy it by any means, he doesn't want much for it, but since it won't work, there is no reason to make the purchase
