T4 Turbocharger
Hey guys new to the forum and I have a 2001 Eclipse RS. I can get a T4 turbo for 750$
1. will this turbo even work on the 2.4l 4 cylinder (I know that it is a univeral style turbo bc i have a friend with a jetta that has a t3/t4 turbo on it, and it was a VR6 2.8L i think) So spool up would be a little slower and peak boost right?
2. Can i get the exhaust mainfold from somewhere to put it on and what about all of the intake piping and everything?
3. Is this a good price?
4. Has anyone ever done this?
I appreciate any and all information
Thanks Adam

Turbo info please? T4 doesnt tell us to much... For example. I have a T3/To4E BB50trim with a .63 a\r which is a $1200 turbo. Personally your going to need like $3-$4k to turbo your car the right way. You can always do a Evo8 head swap onto that block and then use teh Evo turbo kits for your car as it will be a Evo motor with a Stroker pretty much (providing you build the bottom end) the stock bottom can handle a little more than 300HP.
Ok well I guess thats not going to happen because the guy that has them just says that they are T4 turbo chargers. I am sure he does not know any of this stuff and i have read about all of the trim and a/r and turbo maps but i do not think that i can calculate all of that stuff on my own. Would a id number on the turbo tell you much.
But your saying that it would be easier to do a head swap from an evo which would be an evo stroker motor and then get a turbo kit from an evo. Would that be the cheaper route to go then. I am used to diesel mainly so running turbo gas motors that are computer controlled is not up my ally but i would like to learn. Is it a real pain with a stock motor running a turbo charger adn the stock ECU and keeping the thing running good?
Thanks for the help if there is a way to figure out what the trim and a/r and maybe a turbo map could you tell me how to find that out?

swpping and Evo head on is not an easier way to turbo the car, but it is easier if you want to make power. the stock head sucks for air flow on those cars. an Evo turbo manifold will bolt up to your stock head but you would be better off haveing a custom one made.
youll need like $4k in parts to just turbo your car as it is right now (not including an evo swap). you WILL need the computer either flashed and tuned or a piggy back installed and tuned so you can be sure the car will safely run.

Resurrecting the thread, the main question is how much power you want. Then you build the rest around it. In the Volvo universe, where I am coming from, I have seen people successfully turboing their N/A cars for under $500 with junkyard and ebay parts. But, the ones that lasted did not try to run insane boost levels, keeping HP at 230 or so. I also know two guys who blew holes on the side of their respective blocks because they cranked up the boost.
