Thrust Bearing..HELP PLEASE
Got a ?.......Well my friend has a 7bolt 4g63t with a act 2600 clutch....he totally rebuilt this engine when he spun a rod bearing and run it for about 1,000 miles and just recently removed his engine and all components 2 have the engine bay sprayed...when we got it out we took the oil pan off just to check how the crank was holding up and 2 his suprise there is a lot of play in the crank....and on the clutch side of the thrust bearing its just not there...its been worn off but the other side is just fine so what can we do?.....i've crankwalked an engine before and we wanna do anything and everything 2 prevent this from happening until he gets tha money 2 do a 6-bolt swap?...any ideas?

because the clutch is one of the contributors to it. Remove the clutch sensor that is used to start the car so that you can do a clutchless start, because that is one of the worse things for it, so that should buy you some time. I think you could replace the bearings with something alittle stronger and that might help it a bit.

RE: Thrust Bearing..HELP PLEASE
well i know magnus motorsports said that they simple machined the block a bit to make it accept a 1g oil squirter and then blocked off the 2g passage. So if you feel like taking the block apart to do it, then it might be another way to increase the time to failure

Yea I read that somewhere.....I suggested that 2 my buddy...but see we don't have very trustworthy machinest around here...they will do a halfa$$ job and charge you double and he seems 2 be running a lil low on cash....I just wonder if it's possible just take take them out and be done?....

well those are used to cool the underside of the piston right. So under normal conditions i guess its not bad, but once the engine starts getting under boost i think it becomes important to have. But blocking it off definetly would help the crankwalk situation anyway.
