Default is this true???

Im a student at universal technical institute, and in my class I have a friend that says for a 2000 through 2005 eclipse gs if you want to turbo it you can take the stock manifold, turbo, and down pipe from a evo and they will bolt right on... some one please help me because I need to know if this is true...

Most definetly UNTRUE! While the exhaust ports should match (I'm not 100% certain, feel free to step in and correct), there's more to boosting a car than simply slapping on a turbo. You'll need to take into consideration what the stock internals can handle. Seeing as the most abuse they'll take on a daily basis is 7-9 pounds, and seeing as the evo's come with double that stock, adding that much pressure is ill advised. Plus you'll need some sort of piggyback to regulate air/fuel mixtures, bigger injectors, a bigger fuel pump, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, BOV, etc. So the answer is 'No' they don't just bolt on.

Now swapping a 4g63 head onto a 4g64 bottom end is pretty common, and will net you a whole lot more power.

but you still cant boost anything past 8 lbs. of boost. If you built the bottom end and put a 4g63 head on however, you would have a stroked4g63 capable of some serious power.

I think you guys were reading alittle to into the question.

Yes the manifold and turbo will bolt up however you will have a clearance issue with the turbo making contact to the starter i believe. So you would need to buy spacers on it. I think it was something like 1 inch thing spacing ot something. Youd have to ask emonz because he had one bolted up.

But like they said just make it known that there is more than just bolting it up. Also you can bolt on a evo head to the GS which is quite common

Well i learned something new today . Why will it work in a 3g and not on a 2g. I thought the the blocks were almost identical.

the 3G is 180degrees opposed to the 2G. so in other words the 3G is facing the same way as the Evo. Yes it will kinda fit. you need a 1.5 inch spacer made to clear the starter.

so if its 180 degrees aposed how does a 2g 4g63 head fit. I guess i just dont understand why a 2g and evo head will fit a 4g64. It seems either one would fit or the other, not both.

Because the 4g64 in the 2Gs faces the same way as teh 4g63 2gs. the 4g64 3Gs face the same as teh Evo.

So you CANT use a 2G head on a 3g BUT you can use a 2g on a 2g. if thatmakes sence to you
