turbo swap and stall
i put in a big 16g on my 99 gsx now my car boosts to 14 psi and then it cuts out like a short stall or what not i put a boost controller in and no matter what setting it allways boost to 14 psi and stalls does any body know whats up
You cant just slap on a different turbo and think it will run fine. You need to tune it. Get yourself an Apexi SAFCII and a wideband... and begin tuning.
Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a while and reseting the computer? I highly recomend tuning it with the tools listed above.

Can I just slap on that same turbo in my car without tuning it, but I do have the support mods. I have the intake, catback, boost gauge, removed BCS restrictor, Walbro 190 fuel pump, and replaced fuel filter. And also 550's fuel injectors. Can I put on that 16G turbo now without having the wideband and SAFCII to tune my car?
well what makes me wonder is that it keeps going it at 14psi. Can you lower the boost to the lowest it can go and see what that does. It seems like either the boost controller is setup wrong or something. It also sounds like your car is cutting out. Which shouldnt happen with the fuel either. Something isnt in right.
Yes it is always safer and better to know what your A/F ratio is and being able to control it so you that you never run too rich/lean. Your should always tune your car when you do a major upgrade. If you get a SAFCII then this will solve your cut out problem. The wideband is so that you can tune the SAFCII. Without the wideband you would have to go to a tuning center... and they would hook one of their own up just to tune it... costing you quite a bit.
A mbc cant lower boost, it can only raise it. If you close the check valve on the mbc all the way the boost in then determined by the spring in the wastegate actuator. Which is set to 14psi.
You can run any turbo alone as long as it stays under the stock fuel system limits (16-17psi)
In your case it sounds like your hitting fuel cut, which is odd becuase your not exceding the 17psi mark. I think to solve this your going to need a 3' gm maf setup. MY guess is its the shear voulm of air being forced into the motor that causing the fuel cut. You dont need a safc or injectors or even a tune for that matter at the psi your running. The stock ecu is able to adjust the a/f at your stage. But none the less you should have a wideband just to give you an idea on what the motor is doing.

Hey guys, I also heard, that if I change the fuel pump its ok to keep the stock injectors. Someone told me that people either change the fuel injectors or fuel pump. And most people change the fuel pump because its cheaper. Is this true? The thing is, i want to run higher than 15 psi, but I still have the stock injectors and a Walbro 190 fuel pump. Is it ok for me to go over 15 psi?
I believe so. But like everyone had said, you need to make sure that you tune it to lean it out just a bit.
And slow i know it only raises it, i just was wondering if he puts it all the way down or even takes off the boost controller to see if the setup was right for it. Do you know that your boost guage is reading correctly for that matter.
