Personally, I would take the hit in performance for what is to me, a much better looking car.

You must not be in the same boat as me...I'd prefer the Eclipse over the EVO...but truly, neither one of them look as good as a 3S.

edit: I know looks are subjective and what one person finds pleasing to the eye, another will not.

 

you worded it wrong that's why i got it twisted, the EVO IX is putting down 286whp, the Eclipse Ralliart concept is suposed to putdown 400 (i think this is crank hp though). thats why i thought you were talking about the EVO

 

I see how you were confused, but all things considered, even if Mitsu were to build that Eclipse, I'd almost bet money they would tune it down to normal EVO specs in terms of HP.

 

i doubt they will ever release one that will run w/ an evo... they have to much invested in the EVO. that is 'THE CAR" for mitsu...

 

idk. It seems likeif they just put out an eclipse with the exact same engine and drivetrain as the evo, it WOULD hurt the selling of evos, but if they just charged around the same thing, maybe more, it wouldstill balance out. Some people like coupes, some people like sedans...And bringing another good looking car with that power into play would only attract more buyers.

 

and i definately dont think it would destroy the evo forever either.

 

If they have to tune it down.. It wouldnt be that hard to tune it back up to its potential... Put me on the waiting list if this thing ever makes production

 

That in itself is reason enough. Use and much EVO technology as possible. The Eclipse would naturally be a heavier so it's performance would not quite be up to par with a lighter more nimble EVO. Using existing technology would be cheaper than R&D.

Seems like a win-win to me.
