Body lift kits vs Suspension lift kits
Lift kits are usually available in two varieties: Suspension and body lift kits. Each serves different mechanically purposes, thus having its distinctive advantages and disadvantages. This is the same for Mitsubishi cars.
Body lift kits
This lift kit lifts the car’s body above the frame, allowing for wider tires to be installed. The extra height is attained with this kit by using spacers. Body lift kits should not impair the suspension's performance.
Pros
- Less expensive if you only want to install larger tires.
- Easy to install since you don't have to mess with your car suspension system.
Cons
- Doesn't improve your suspension setup.
- Extra strain on the vehicle's components, particularly the basic suspension and car body.
- The driving dynamics of your car may be affected by the lift kit, depending on its height.
Suspension lift kits elevate your vehicle's suspension from the ground. This allows your car to accommodate bigger tires. Additonally, the majority of suspension kits will also include performance coil-overs with stronger springs, extended suspension travel, etc.
Pros
- Improve off-road performance
- Extra room for wider tires
- Widen ground clearance
- Better for other parts of your car over time.
Cons
- Difficult to install
- Greater buying cost and installation fees
- Require wheel alignment after installation because the car’s suspension geometry will shift.
- Alter the way your car handles, so you will need some time to adjust.
- Rise in the weight of your car.
