what is the bump on the hood for on the 99 mitsubishi eclipse gs-t

The bump on the hood is for the DOHC (Dual Over Head Cam).

yeah, the cam gears that drive the dohc rise above the valve cover and needed the bump in the hood to fit.

be that way mat. it does make it seem like the engine doesnt fit in there. thats why we like it.

they had to cram that MONSTEROUS POWERPLANT of an engine under that hood.. ran out of room though.. its just too big!!

hey, id leave the hood on. the ladies see the bump and know how much power is inside... cant show them it all at once. you need to........ LOL turn the conversation to somewhere it shouldnt go... ah... why not....
