Well lets see,
The thing that makes me cringe the most while I drive down the road is seeing a perfectly good car torn apart by a wanna be "racer". I see these import cars on the road that have beenphysically abused, and defaced of their once decent looking exterior. Why do people continue to "soup up" their cars in a half *** mannor? If you don't have the funds to do it all at once why bother to trash your ride out for a period of time. I've seen cars that are being "worked" on for God knows how long and they never get completed. I never was in to the whole body kit crave b/c half of them looked ridiculous. So maybe someone can shine some light on this topic.

What I don't get is the 4-door racer look. When I was a kid, it had to be a 2-door. Four doors were the family car. What's the purpose? Are you going to load up the family for a nice Sunday race? Do you load up all of your friends and see if you can beat the guy next to you? If it really is a race car, you shouldn't even have a back seat, much less four doors. I like my 3000 GT. Even though it has a back seat, you'd have a hard time getting anyone to sit back there.

But yet the EVO rock 4 doors and run down track in under 9 secs these day. hell only like $1000 in mods and your running 12s and the EVo 9 is 12s from the factory. tell me what is the point to NOT mod it

I see the point of 2dr performance cars, but with 4dr performance cars, you can have your cake and eat it too. There's room in 4dr cars and as daily drivers (as most cars are, even track cars), what's to complain about? Is it weight? I hope not (with just a driver that is). 2dr cars, if you haven't noticed, are limited in passenger room. Don't tell me that "it's a 2dr performance car and you don't carry passengers in them" load either. Everyone that daily drives their 2dr wishes they had more room, lol. Get out of that paradygm of 2dr cars, that was the old way of thinking. It reminds me of the retro look for cars...aerodynamics sucked back in the day and the old styling still sucks in terms of aerodynamics. I remember driving by the new Mustang body style and I can hear the wind bouncing off it's nose, no wonder the V8 is a 300chp motor, it needs it just to break through the wind. Is it really just the concept of a performance car having 4 drs? If so, I have to say nicely to get over it. It sounds like a look to most 4dr haters, because if you stretch the front doors on the "saloon" and mould in the rear doors, it'll still be as fast or faster than a true 2dr. What's wrong with having the front doors shortened and adding a set of rears? An EVO is roughly the same length of a Mustang (any trim). My car is only slightly longer than my buddy's EVOs and my buddy's SRT-4. So, what's wrong with having a 4dr performance car again?
The time is here, they are everywhere and they are fast...period. 2dr cars no longer rule the "fast" lane. Yes, you can hate them all you want, but they will still be fast. I have a 2dr coupe, I love it and the 4dr performance cars. Then again, I am an car enthusiast and not limited to how few doors a car has...it's all about performance, not "a look" for me.

To the OP, I've often pondered on that question myself. There are a lot of things that can be done before making the car into a primer dog, but folks these days have no patients and thus, do things in a half assed manner. They usually get so used to it that their drive (no pun intended) to finish seems to have tapered away. There are a few who have legit reason, but there are more that just like the bondo/primer look. It's almost a way of saying that it's a work in progress for them.

I gotta agree. 2dr cars suck for a daily driver, well, atleast when you're driving other people around. But, I can't complain because I don't drive my gsx daily... more like rarely and my Oldsmobile is 4 doors and bling bling. So it's all good.

..that doesn't apply to me either being that I have back seats that can fit adults of average size
I have Mustang and Eclipse buddies that do wish they had real backseats.....so do their friends who ride with them, lol. I my buddy with an RX7 wishes he had more room, now that's a small 2dr.
I don't know if you've ever seen the back seat of a Stang or Eclipse, but to seat an average adult in the front seats, it ends up putting the backrest right on the knees of the back seat passenger(s). That is not very comfortable for even a 10 minute drive...god forbid if you're closterfobic, haha.

I would have copy/pasted this response...but apparently that is not allowed...wtf
Not being able to haul passengers is fine by me...I drive a sports car, not a bus. I have hauled 6' ladder and paint supplies/tools, 8' 2X4's, 5 medium to large suitcases, and a whole host of other stuff in my car...hatchback FTW.

4 seats = cheaper insurance than 2 seats. That is the only reason I can fathom manufactures putting such worthless rear seats in the cars you listed.
