From a side view if you cut off the tail and the hood... they look like late 90s Celicas... or Mini-Supras.

Korean crap (and I'm stickin to my guns on that one!). lol, it's a nice lookin car, much better than the older genterations. If you really want to shy away from the triple diamond crowd, don't let me stop you.
I don't think they're bad looking at all. I don't like the V6 model though. Only because if I wanted to boost it later, there would be more room and more boost friendly...that's only in theory though, since I haven't seen the engine bay of one in many years. It's easy enough to boost any motor, but I would imagine that the 4 cylinder crowd would have better support as it always does.
I say go for it, Hyundais have come a long way. Besides, Korean chics are hot, lol....not that they had anything to do with Hyundai, I just wanted to add that

Scratch the I4 theory of mine....the 2.7L V6 guys do have support too.

Heres my secret:
3weeks ago, I spent $500 and bought a 94 TSi awd Talon.
Needed fuel pump and clutch slave cylinder. Completely stripped it down to a body.
Block has a crack underneath the crank. just pidling around until I find a motor. I'm in no rush.
Restoring it to how it was off the assmebly line.
I'll be in this game for a while longer. lol
