Default goodbye new car

well about a month ago my AC was acting up. The outside unit shut off and was blowing hot air. Turns out that my core was freezing and causing a lot of condensation and filled up my spil pan. When that happens it has a switch that shuts off the outside unit. I drained the pan and it was fine for about a week. Same thing happened. So i called an AC guy to come out and examine it. He said i needed a new unit b/c this one was old, worn out and about dead. I dont' trust AC guys... at all. I called 3 ppl and they all told me identical stories. WELLLLL today i went home for my lunch break and the pan had spilled over and was leaking through my ceiling. Needless to say i think i REALLY need an AC unit now. SOOOO to the point. I get to spend apx 3500-4500 on an AC unit here in the next week. Yay for Ron. bye gsx, bye bike, bye evo... i'm stuck w/ the del slow until next year now. :'-(

Are you mechanically inclined at all? Many times you can clean the A-coils and evap tray and the unit will be fine...for awhile of course. Any guess as to how old the unit is?

looks like it's prolly the stock unit from 1972... the outside unit is rusted all to hell and all 3 ppl that came ot the house said that it actually looks like an AC unit for a Duplex and it's nearly impossible to get to. i don't wanna go round and round w/ the old thing when i kow it's gonna have to be replaced soon anyways so i might as well do it now.

Are you renting or buying?
If you're renting, thats on the landlords plate.
