i know wtf. this is the eclipse story all over.were pulling the motor out tuesday to make sure its only the bottom end and im parking the car for the winter and buying a sti 2.5 longblock and going through it and probably put pistons rods cams blah blah blah so i can actually run a good pass.

 

Sooo how did you manage this one? Was it junk oil, low oil pressure or you beating on it

i wasnt really beating on it. had 2500 miles on mobil 1 full syntthetic 15w-50. heres what happened.

i was driving down the highway at 60mph. i decide to floor it in fifth and get to 100 about 4200 rpm at 7psi. the car hickups and i let off the gas and get back on it and no power what so ever. so i coast to the next exit and pull into a gas station. put it on the car trailer and take it work. the car was 2 quarts low on oil. after 2500 miles, how does that happen. the car has 28k on the clock. wtf it burns more than the dsm ever did. it leaks no oil. no smoke at all. i have no idea where it went but it was low on oil. thats the only reason that i can think of.

 

Did you do the oil change? My supra was changed last like 1500 miles ago at jiffy before I owned the car and like 2 weeks ago my oil light popped on for like a split sec I was like what the hell so I check and i was 1.5 quarts low and I leak nothing and burn really nothing they just didnt fill all the way to the top of the fill line on the dip stick it was only halfway so I still had plenty of oil but it was still low.

 

i did the oil change at my work. put in 5 quarts. i figured i didnt need to check it every week bc it didnt leak or burn any that i know of but i guess i was wrong.

 

ouch... cant help but wonder how much is that gonna be...

 

well woody got the engine apart, turns out the bearings were fine. snapped a rod in half tho and took part of the cylinder wall with it [:@]

Hes lucky it wasnt more of a mess. I snapped a rod in my 00 GS 3g. It shot down threw the oil pan leaving two huge tennis ball sized holes with oil spraying everywhere
