Default New Bike Segestions.

OK I am going to be getting my motorcyclye licence at the end of April. After the class is over. I want to get a used bike. Not something that is going to kill myself as easily. Something like a 4 year old Yahmaha YJF or a SuzskiGSX R 600. Any one else have any ideas on what to look for.

Many of my friends back home ride CBRs, and they all love them. I also run a CBR site, and they are a very helpful group.

I may sound like the old fogy that I am, but I would get a cruiser bike if I were you. You will find out how uncomfortable a crotch rocket is soon after you buy one. My son made the same mistake. You might think it is cool to race around corners at 60 mph... and it is! But, once you go on a longer ride, you will see how tiring it gets riding in that position. My son wrecked his Yamaha and used the insurance money to get a V-Star 650. He later traded it for a RoadStar 1700. I have a Honda VTX 1800. I would not recommend my bike for a new rider because it is way too top heavy. The neat thing about a cruiser bike is all the extras you can buy to customize it to your personality. I probably have over $5000 of custom parts on mine. Also, the ride is much more comfortable and you feel like you have more control. If it's speed your looking for, remember almost any bike will outrun a car. My bike is a V-Twin and can go from 0-60 in 3.7 seconds with a top speed of 130 MPH. You really don't want to go much faster than that anyway (unless you have a deathwish).

Yeah i had a guy back home segest getting a cruiser but I really just dont like the look. I have always been a sporty kind of guy.I dont really like the whole enduro thing either. For now I just want a bike to ride around town. nothing cross country. Just something to ride around. and like i said earlier nothing like a Bussa or anything. Like a CBR 600 or the GSX R 600 or 650 or wahtever it is.

I would definetly not get an R1. I had a buddy buy one for his first bike while he was inexperienced and that didnt work out too well. He ended up dropping the bike and hitting a pole and breaking his legs, He was in a wheel chair for a while. I have heard that the CBR 600 is a good first bike to get. Anything over that size id say is too much for a first bike

a gsx-r 600 is well... 600cc's... an R1 is basically a 1000 isn't it?
