i have no idea what i'm doing when it comes to my routers

first i'll explain my setup, I have two routers that the internet goes through before it gets to my computer, that works fine.

the problem i have is when i download stuff w/ azureus, i always get the yellow face instead of the kool green one that i want to be getting

for all you tech guru's out there, how do i set up both routers to make it green face, what numbers do i use??????

any help is greatly appreciated

With azureus you can designate which ports the program uses, but keep in mind that other programs use ports all the time so don't share any, I would recommend 6881 or 6888. Once you choose a port to use, you need to set that in the options in azureus. Then you need to connect to your router's config address ie: 192.168.2.1 you can find out which ip it is by going to Start>Run then typing in cmd. Once the dos prompt is open, type in ipconfig and the Default Gateway will be the address you type in to access your router. Not sure why you need two routers but that's your choice. Anyway, once you are in the router config, there should be an option for port forwarding, application gateway, or filters, this is where you will designate which ports are allowed ie:6881/6888

 

first off, lemme say thank you to ictponder, for helping w/ the azuerus thing and sending me the disc, i got that today, installed it, tested it, and it runs great and no problems what so ever, but w/ azuerus, i guess you shouldn't use the ports between 6881-6999 or something, but i just used some random port and now i got green faces all the time


and sang, yellow faces mean NAT error and green faces mean your good. NAT errors just mean that you can't connect to anyone's computer because of the routers default firewall(i think) in other words, yellow bad green good

 

NAT = Network Address Translation, it's sort of like a DHCP address server but it allows one IP to mask many others. Does your router have NAT settings?

 

I'm not sure. maybe, where would it be located, like menu wise in the routers.

o, and i have two routers because

the main router goes to the the family's computer(parents, brothers, and my router) and once it hits my router, i have wireless then, bascially for my psp and my laptop.
