question?
does anyone know how much a set of chrome 18s weight? i have a set and want to get rid of them cuz everyone says there to heavy. i beleive it BUT im also going to buy some lighter ones, and find it pointless to buy new rims that "might" have the same weight of my current ones. i really want some racing wheels. so if you know any kind that are light please share thoughts

RE: question?
Depends on what you want to do with your car man...if you want a track terror and race it then go with the light weight ones but if you are only modding somewhat and want the looks then go with the chrome...I had chrome wheels on my old '97 Spyder GS cuz I couldn't do much with the 4G64..The car was bright red and the chrome wheels looked sweet on it. They are such a pain in the azz to take care of though!

RE: question?
i hate to clean them cuz it takes about 15 min/rim and it would only stay clean for a good 4days. but ur right, it does make the car stand out alot. but im more into speed now than just showing off the car.

RE: question?
yeah it all depends and i say go with some alloys you like, i love my rims and they're 18's and not gunna lie i can't tell if they slow me down cuz i got the power to make up for it. and i'm not a track kidd, but i'll take it once every blue moon. and besides u can make any kind of rim stand out, doens't have to be chrome

RE: question?
Chrome is HEAVY. Get an aluminum wheel and you'll see an increase in your MPG also go with a smaller size. You have 18's not, drop down to a 16 or a 17 and you'll see a change in the MPG that you'll get It's part of the reason the Metro's were so damn economical. They had 12's or 13's on them.

RE: question?
i like 18s becuz it fits good and doesnt look like theres too much spacebetween the body and the car. but if i go with 17s i would need to drop the car? or just get bigger tires? i have some falken tires and there not hitting anything when i turn.

RE: question?
You could do either or. For those that don't know:
Tires sizing:
205/55R16 is my car's front tire size. To break down what exactly the numbers mean here's a little explanation:
205: Tread width. In other words the rubber that meets the rod's width in I believe centimeters. Might be milimeters I can't remember.
55: Wall height. This number is actually a percentage. So take 55% of 205 and that is the wall height for my tires.
R16: Obviously the rim size.
Hopefully this will assist in your decision.
