Default quick question about my new shocks

I am in the middle of changing the shocks on my 3000gt. I just bought some new KYB adjustable shocks. My problem is that the red part in the picture is not coming off the old shocks, and I need that part to put on my new shocks becauseit hasaftermarket springs installed by the previous owner. My question is what is the name of the part? I'm having a hard time finding them without knowing exactly what the name of the part is.
