What do you guys think about a S14?
I've been thinking about selling theGST and getting a S14. The insurance is too high for me to pay and save money for other things. I'm going to look elsewhere for insurance, but if I cant find anything cheaper, I'm probably going to sell.
For my next car I was thinking about getting a s14 because they handle great, look good, and are cheap on insurance. I know the KA24 is a clunky truck motor, and is not worth boosting. Down the line Icould put a new motor in it, and there are alot of choices like the SR20, LS1, VQ35, VQ30 ect., that is just what Ihave seen,so there is no shortage of potential. After a year of owning my eclipse, I've had fun, but more often than not something was wrong with it, or it was broken. I know Nissans are reliable, My previous car was a 95 Nissan Maxima with 160,000 on the clockand ran great, never gave me any problems except for the automatic tranny.
Anyways I was just wondering what you guys think about the S14 and the KA24. About how much power could it produce going NA?

i'm not familiar w/ the ka24 but if you think about it... any motor can hold any hp w/ enough money. i love the way the s14's look, more so than the 13 and 15. go for it. w/ ur mods you can prolly get about 7500-8500 off the top of my head. you can get a cheap as crap 240 shell for 2-3k sr20 for 4-5k and bam, you're fast lol

if you want some good power, i would order a RB25DET and if you have enough money over from buying your car, try to get your hands on the RB26DETT, but i would either go with the RB20DET (skyline engine not silvia) or the RB25DET both great choices.

I'm going to decide here in a week or two.I dont know if I would dare boosting the ka24 without building the motor up first, but I hear once built they put down some nice torque.I was thinking with all the money I would be saving on insurance, gas, and mechanic bills, I could save for a sr20 or a vq35. The vq35 sounds like acool idea because 270 ft/lbs of torque without a turbo setup sounds nice, and I wouldnthave to worry about things blowing up and have alot of power at the same time.

hmm i like the s14. while i have a gsx my brother (15 years old) has a 97 240sx lol. and his is i guess you can say "rice" or a show car. because it does have bodykit and CF wing and Hood. it is all painted and has FULL sound system. i kinda like the s14 for turns and just overall driving because its fun and its a change away from the turbo and AWD. but i still rather keep the dsm.

the KA is worth boosting...sort of. Its best to at LEAST get the timing chain replaced(not a cheap fix--about600 bucks!), then the turbo **** will cost a minimum of 1200 for decent stuff, so theres 2k right there. sr20 front clip=2850(what i paid), but im also installing it myself. Usual install fee is about a G in a 240sx.
RB series motors are seriously overpriced, and seriously overrated. rb25 barely makes any more power than most sr20s. rb26 does make a nice little amount of horsepower, but who wants to pay 8000 dollars just for an engine? The only reasons i could see it being feasable are being so loaded you have ntohing else to do with your money, or having serious insecurity problems which need hiding with a rarely seen expensive motor.
sr20 or boost the ka. but remember that the KA is actually a heavvvvy cast iron truck motor, and sr20 is made to be a performance car motor
