sorry everyone for not getting on here as I should. I got a new job as a supt. with a major construction company and am working a lot. (ex. I worked 68 hours last week) so I get up when its dark and get home when its dark. I appologize to all of you for being a shady moderator, and I'll try to make myself get on here more.

hopefully when warm weather comes around I'll be more psyched about doing stuff to my car.. IOWA SUCKS
Sounds like the job I'm on...6AM-6PM plus 2 hrs driving time a day.Good money though,before taxes... $2300 a week

senior industrial maintenance craftsman(pipefitter, equip.operator, etc) for several contractors in various oil refineries on the West coast, mostly in Washington State. Most of the money is from lots of OT.You have to have a C-STOP or BATT safety training to get in the gate.

They pay the contract workers who do the maintenance on their refineries, they dont want to do,that keep them running so they can sell their gas for big profits ...pretty well.Thats why its 10,12,& 16 hour shifts,so theres less downtime,so they can get up & running sooner and so it doesnt cut into their profit margin from charging everybody big bucks for gas.I was told on this last project, that they lost $250,000/day x 7 days in "potential" earnings

That cash is probly like pocket change to those guys...plus you'd have to think that they know these "units" have to have maintenance to keep them running at optimal output. And any money spent is most certainly passed on to us as consumers of the fuel they make. So,actually, the money they pay us they get back when we fill up.I think I was fueling up like every other day driving my 78 Cutlass 2 hrs a day, just to get to work & back!
