Question 1992 Expo transmission shifting problem

Hello everyone!
I installed a used transmission( F4A232) in my 92' Expo and from day one it would not shift into second gear smoothly or sometimes the engine revs up as if it went into neutral. I also have no over drive. I was able to get the codes from the computer they are 52,53 and 86. Some of the solutions (I have the shop manual) I can do with the transaxle in the vehicle (ie signal generators or the end clutches) others I can't. I have a warranty on the transmission but I want to have my information together before I contact the company I bought the transmission from. I am looking to see if anyone else has had this problem. I want to make sure I am going in the right direction.

Mxmikie, thank you for the prompt reply? I guess the most expedient way to check the TCM is to replace it witha known good one and see if the problems go away. I know how to check the solenoids. Could you please elaborate on the bad grounds?
