Default D1GP (DRIFT)

What is drifting?

Drifting is a high-skill level motor-sport in which drivers control a car while it slides from side to side at high speed (approx. 80 to 100mph) through a fixed course. It is similar to Rally racing on ice barn, but is done on a tarmac (paved course) and judged on speed, angle of attack, execution and style rather than just who finishes the fastest. Drift cars are typically compact to midsized, rear-wheel-drive sport cars. The goal is to apply enough power to the rear wheels to break the tires' traction and initiate a slide while accelerating the vehicle forward, or "drift" Once a drift is initiated, it must be maintained through the turn using nearly a full power, a tap of braking and precise counter steering.

i didnt have my video camera with me...but here is a link to the pictures. it was all done by professional drivers, an my mistake i didnt see the team mopar/yokohama viper run, but i saw the driver of that car beating up a stock viper...

the link below takes you to page 1, if you scroll down a bit, youll see a black srt10 ram going through the short course.
page two shows the quad cab version of the SRT10 ram drifting, then the viper, then the SRT8 300c (which i got to drive in an autocross course!!), then the crossfire, then the SRT4 doing a big burnout..it was an AWESOME event...and it was free to my girlfriend and i!! i had a great time, and getting to autoX a 50,000 dollar luxury car with 425 hp was just sick..

it was called the "people pride and products day"...my girlfriend and i are very active with going to large shows such as the NAIAS and Detroit autorama, so we get invited to things like this. if something like this comes to you, make sure you get there early...we screwed up...it was kind of a colder day, and when we got there we were just looking at the show cars and such, not realizing that you could actually test drive some of the cars in a closed circuit. by the time we realized that you could drive some of these cars, we had to wait in line, and after we went, and got back to where the line started, it was a 2 hour wait...

the options to test drive were:
2006 Dodge Charger RT
2005 Dodge SRT-4
2006 Jeep Hemi Grand Cherokee
2005 Dodge Magnum RT
2005 Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6
2006 Chrysler SRT-8 300C

it really was cool getting to beat up an expensive car on a closed circuit, plus they had TONS of displays, as seen on our webpage!
