Default Car won't start, clicking from ECU

Yesterday, my 2002 Galant wouldn't start. When the lights were on, a clicking sound came from under the hood. When I checked, it was coming from the fuse box there, and a passer buy said the ECU was clicking.

A week ago, I had an entire fuel system flush/clean.

Does it sound like the ECU is shot? Can a fuel system flush do that?

I hope it isn't your ECU as that is a very expensive repair. A fuel system clean/flush shouldn't have had any effect on the ECU/ECM module. I'd have the dealer or a independent import specialty shop run a computer diagnostic on it and see what codes are reported. Besides the tow bill that should cost you less than $100. I take it you have checked it simply isn't a battery that went bad. Alot of the time when a battery shorts a cell it will drain in under an hour to a level too low to start your car. If you have a volt meter handy check it and make sure it's above 12Vdc.

Thanks for the reply. It ended up being both the battery and starter. I'm so thankful it wasn't the ECU.

Even though this is an old thread, I wanted to say thank you for sharing these tips.
I was working on a friend's Galant that would not start. Ended up doing a spark test after watching this video and I had no spark.
Took it to a local mechanic and they said it was bad ECU in my case.
