Lookin at some of the pics. There is an evo with a massive intercooler piping. Its gotta be bigger than 3". And there is one that it looks like the person made there own tubular manifold.

 

yea but as anything goes
the bigger the size of the tubbing
the less velocity the air/substance will be because it has to displace itself within the walls of the pipe.

well as long as you have a big enough turbo to push enough air then its a good idea. Cuz youll get more flow. A small pipe will be more restrictive
