RE: Silver to Black

a shop did it... and usually sebba you're not supposed to really wax a new paintjob for about a month... to let the clearcoat really cure and make sure you don't f it up... but it looks good man, congrats

Sebba 03-31-2008 02:07 PM

RE: Silver to Black

Thats true.

v8eater 03-31-2008 03:01 PM

RE: Silver to Black

Yeah, they told me not to wax it for 50 days...
I am very pleased with the paint!

sk8dudety 04-02-2008 07:55 AM

RE: Silver to Black

Did they paint the door jams too?

atown420 04-02-2008 01:04 PM

RE: Silver to Black

how much did that run you?

v8eater 04-03-2008 03:15 PM

RE: Silver to Black

Yes, I had my door jams painted too.
My car painted with door jams and a few cracks fixed in a fender came out to be just under $1000.
Not bad for a sweet paint job but still a lot of money for me... :(

sk8dudety 04-04-2008 01:01 AM

RE: Silver to Black

yea thats not bad at all for a full paint job

dsm1990gsx 04-04-2008 09:55 AM

RE: Silver to Black

Wow not bad at all, what was the shops name that did it?

TheEngineer 04-04-2008 10:11 AM

RE: Silver to Black

wow $1000. Well i always say you get what you pay for. For that price im willing to bet that it wont last more than 2 years before you start noticing things. Unless you just got lucky and got a really good deal, or you know the person or something.

v8eater 04-04-2008 12:02 PM

RE: Silver to Black

Yeah, it was a local shop and they gave me a good deal since they know me and understand that I am a poor college student. I'm not to worried about it...

PoolhallJunkie777 04-08-2008 08:54 PM

RE: Silver to Black

thats nice, how much did it cost you. im looking to to repaint my car in a fade. just wondering how much it will cost.

sk8dudety 04-08-2008 11:20 PM

RE: Silver to Black

dude ya gotta read the rest of the posts... it cost him $1000, he got it done by a local shop with some friends, so it was way low... if you wanna get a quality paintjob like his with the door jams and whatnot, especially a color change, you could be lookin anywhere from 2k-4k, depending on color and body damage

PoolhallJunkie777 04-09-2008 09:07 PM

RE: Silver to Black

didnt see that

TheEngineer 04-10-2008 08:13 AM

RE: Silver to Black

a normal shop will charge you 1.5k-2k for a respray of the same color. I paid 2k for mine

3000gt16 05-02-2008 05:03 PM

RE: Silver to Black

Haha Im too cheap to even bother with a new paint job, I'd rather put 2k worth of new parts into it. But I really like it, dont get me wrong I simply cant afford a paint job myself that all [sm=smiley20.gif]

Nakura17 05-03-2008 06:47 AM

RE: Silver to Black

Almost exactly like mine except for the spoiler.. mines a little smaller - Awesome paint job though:) thought about getting mine re-done

RE: Silver to Black

It has been a long time since I have been on the sight so I thought I would update a little bit. In the past month I have:

Swapped t-25 and installed the 14b (ported)
Went from 1g bov to the HKS ssqv bov
Went from stock exhaust to 3" Megan downpipe, 3" high flow cat and a 3" catback exhaust
Installed Turbonetics MBC boosting 15 psi

Next items will be fmic, injectors and fuel management. This will not happen for a while due to the fact that I go to an expensive college and I try to save more than I spend.

Just thought I would give an update since I am not on this forum very often.
Hope all is well for my fellow dsm boys!
peace

That looks amazing, cant believe it was on 1k. I gotsome estimates for a respray of black on mine and cheapest I found was $1500. Got the clear coat de-laminating in a few spots like the million other people in the world.

I would love to get some 18" gunmetal rims and drop her 1.5 but that is far in the future.
I am such a poor college kid it is ridiculous.

yea and you got what you paid for an ****y paint job.

Good paint jobs start right around $3k from what I have been seeing (im talking paint jobs for people like me who are anal about the paint look)

It looks gorgeous.

If you want to maintain it a little easier, have you looked into 3M Clear Vinyl? That **** is awesome.

I have never even heard of that. I'll look into it, won't hurt the paint or anything?
